Testimonials and Mary

When I first began working with Mary I was at a crossroads and had many concerns about my future in general.

Mary’s ability to listen and pinpoint the areas that I needed to focus on we’re extremely helpful. Soon after several sessions, I felt comfortable and confident enough to take actions that were well thought out with the help of Mary‘s coaching. I am extremely grateful for the time and effort that Mary has put into my coaching sessions.

Mary has great insights and is patient as well as prepared to offer very helpful feedback and guidance.  She genuinely cares and I look forward to our weekly sessions.

I felt stuck and unmotivated before I started coaching with Mary.  My usual strategies weren’t working and I was beginning to feel rudderless. When I heard about the opportunity I jumped at it and have been enjoying the process ever since!

I’ve enjoyed everything to date, but I think the support and reframing of issues raised were my favorite parts.

Mary, also known as Divinefulness Mary, is an author, podcaster, empowerment coach, and a survivor of childhood sexual abuse who conquered post-traumatic stress (PTS). Divinefulness is loving the REAL You who your Higher Power created you to be, that is, your Divine Sacred Self.

She said, "By the grace of God, I conquered suicidal thoughts and post-traumatic stress after a childhood of sexual abuse.  God led me from suicidal thoughts to finding and loving my Divine Sacred Self as well as conquering PTS.  Over time, I did this by developing my spiritual awareness and deepening my relationship with Him while going to therapy and writing about my feelings in two books: Love Poems from God: My Poems and Practical Exercises and A Rape Survivor’s Spiritual Journey: My Poems and Practical Exercises."

Born and raised in Chicago, I still live in Chicago with my family.  I’m a member of The Center for Faith and Community Health Transformation in Chicago, and I also serve on the Planning Committee for the Chicagoland Trauma Informed Congregation Network.  Both organizations are efforts by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), University of Illinois Hospital, and Advocate Health.  Like me, these organizations are LGBTQIA-friendly.

Since my spirituality and expressing my feelings about the abuse in writing helped me in my healing journey, I decided to use a spiritual and creative arts approach to coaching.  When you connect with your spirituality, you connect with your Divine Sacred Self: the REAL You who your Higher Power created you to be.   The arts aren’t only fun, they help us connect with our subconscious which, according to behavioral psychologists, makes most of our decisions.  During all coaching sessions, Mary will discuss your goals, current concerns, and the previous week’s action step and spiritual art assignment.

Mary said, "I would be honored to guide you on your empowerment journey as you deepen your relationship and love for your Divine Sacred Self, transform your life, and keep pursuing your dream life."
